In the words of the author - Salukini is a word I created in 1991 as a personal and gleeful expression between friends and at other social gatherings. I’ve used the word on a regular basis and it began showing up on Facebook, on other social media, on social networking platforms and in other communications.
I created it as a fun turn on “salud”, the Spanish word for “cheers”. I wanted to express something that stood out and felt more like me when raising a glass. Since then it’s taken on a variety of new meanings. It represents a special wish for happiness and making memories --- my own little celebration word.
Over time I hope
salukini becomes a go-to word for celebrating moments big and small.
